This project was done for, and with help from, the children of the Gran Municipality. It is a pilot project initiated by Norsk Form, the State Department for Roads (Statens Vegvesen) and Gran Municipality.

The main aim of the project is to encourage activity in children and youngsters, by adding appeal to the options of walking or biking to school. Inactivity is a growing concern in this age group, and this project is one of many countermeasures to mend this negative development.

These small meeting places are placed along the school road in Gran. The separate and independent units are painted in strong colours, fulfilling simple and diverse functions. The main idea behind the project came into being after arranging a series of workshops for the children that would later make use of the modules. The modules can stand on their own or in clusters. At them, the kids can meet up on the way to or from school. The modules answer to practical concern while inviting play and social interaction.

The project was realized with help from students and the modules were built at Oslos School of Architecture and Design (AHO). A major goal of the project is to inspire other cities to follow suit and initiate similar projects, making the meeting spots a common sight along the school roads of Norway.

TYIN pensjoneres - etter 11 fantastiske år!

Vi har fått muligheten til å jobbe sammen med lokalsamfunn, studenter og arkitekter over hele verden. Det har vært en utrolig reise hvor vi har møtt mange fine og interessante mennesker. Vi har lært mye om ulike kulturer, arkitektur og håndverk.

Prosjektene vi har jobbet med har fått massiv støtte og anerkjennelse, både lokalt og internasjonalt. Vi har reist verden rundt og fortalt om prosjektene våre, og delt erfaringer fra det vi har vært med på.

Nå kjenner vi oss klare til å gå nye veier.

Ørjan og Andreas starter opp et nytt firma som har fått navnet fur arkitekter (www.fur.no) og Yashar går til Agraff (www.agraff.no), kontoret han jobbet hos som student; og TYINs første sponsor.

TYIN tegnestue Architects are retiring - after 11 fantastic years!

We’ve had the pleasure of working with local communities, students and architects across the world. It’s been an incredible journey through which we have met numerous generous and interesting people. We’ve learnt a lot about different cultures, architecture and crafts.

Our projects have received massive support and recognition, both locally and internationally. We’ve traveled all over and shared our experiences with the world.

We are now ready to move on into new adventures.
